Director and Therapist, Rooted Growth Counseling
I am driven to help clients who are being challenged with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship struggles, self-esteem, stress, suicidal ideation, trauma/PTSD, adoption issues and more. I like to use an integrative approach to therapy to suit treatment for each unique client.
Through my life experiences as someone who has endured trauma and someone who has helped others through difficulties I have learned that everyone has hurts, habits, and/or hang-ups that they need guidance with. A guiding philosophy for me as a counselor is expressed through this quote by Rumi: “Be a lamp, or lifeboat, or a ladder. Help someone’s soul heal.”
I graduated from Florida College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and minored in Biblical Studies. I achieved my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lubbock Christian University. I have worked in education and Christian ministry for over 15 years. In those 15 years I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in various stages of life. I currently work with clients age 11 and up. I will work with individuals, couples, and groups.

Clinical Mental Health Counselor
Welcome! I’m Maria, a dedicated and compassionate therapist helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and cultivate emotional well-being. My approach is rooted in empathy, active listening, and the belief that every person has the capacity for growth and healing.
I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. My undergraduate degree is from Penn State University in Health and Human Development. I served 22 years in the United States Army working with the infantry, aviation, and special forces command. I also served back-to-back deployments to Iraq during operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). As a counselor I’ve worked with a diverse range of clients, including those dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship issues, and major life transitions.
I use an integrated approach to therapy, tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of my clients. I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques, including CBT, ACT, DBT, mindfulness, humanistic, psychodynamic, and a variety of other therapies. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process where we work together to identify your strengths, explore underlying issues, and develop strategies for coping and resilience.
Whether you’re seeking short-term support or long-term therapy, my goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your feelings and thoughts, build self-awareness, and develop the tools necessary for leading a more fulfilling and balanced life. I look forward to the privilege and opportunity to work with you!
